Picture Jasper is opaque, especially when tumbled and polished. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5-7, making it an incredibly sturdy, durable stone that resists scratching and isn’t very porous. Picture Jasper is a form of Chalcedony or microcrystalline Quartz formed through the hydrothermal process. Although some qualities remain the same, there is a definite difference, especially when measuring the metaphysical properties of the stones. You may be familiar with Jasper, but Picture Jasper differs from its solid color cousins.
